Tulips are a wedding favorite, and with over 500 varieties of cut tulips available, there are plenty of choices. Although the traditional time to expect these flowers is during spring, commercial growers have extended the times that these flowers are available to florists to include winter and summer.
Tulips come in a great variety of colors. Reds, yellows and whites are well known. But there is also interesting lavender, purple and striped varieties. Tulips are quite thirsty flowers so make sure that they have plenty of water if used in a vase. It is extremely important that the flowers are well-conditioned before the big day, given a fresh cut and allowed to stand in fresh water to ensure that there is plenty of water taken up by the flower.
